Unsollicited portrait of an anonymous commuter in the New York subway. The painting plays with movement versus stillness and the subject of the painting hidden behind a newspaper. The traditional painting techniques of the old masters form the basis of the painting. A brilliant white gesso ground ensures that the scarce use of colour is optimally reflected.
