This spring, my proposal for a mural at Stadskasteel Zaltbommel was selected. The design is a contemporary tribute to a traditional Dutch tile panel, quietly tucked away in the museum’s cellar.
Over the past months, I have been working on bringing this idea to life. The mural consists of a grid of 36 squares, each about 62 x 62 cm — a clean framework in which every “tile” tells its own story. In the distinctive style of Dutch tile art, objects from the museum’s collection are reimagined as timeless cobalt-blue icons. The result is a visually cohesive work that unites the richness and variety of the collection in a surprising and accessible way — an invitation to see the familiar with fresh eyes.
The mural is now nearly finished, and I look forward to sharing the final photographs soon!
