The Bommelerwaard is a region full of entrepreneurs and a river island rich with fertile lands and bird-filled floodplains. Over the centuries, water has shaped this landscape, and its nature reserves are a testament to its resilient history. Ellen Holleman painted a nature panorama on the sanitary building at Strandbad Well, located at the end of the Afgedamde Maas. With this mural, the building becomes part of the landscape and the joyful atmosphere of summer water activities. The mural depicts the river landscape with its flora and fauna, celebrating the joy of nature and water. It shows children in a lush green panorama alongside animals like swans, beavers, spoonbills, and deer. In an ideal world, we are all part of nature! Commissioned by the municipality of Maasdriel, this mural is part of the Bommelerwaard Regional Product Route, developed by the local municipality. Located at Strandbad Well, Maasdriel, Netherlands, the artwork was completed in the spring of 2024. During the preparation, Holleman collaborated with students from the Tekenschool Bommelerwaard, who created sketches for the animals in the painting. The Natuurwacht Bommelerwaard advised on the depicted flora and fauna.
